An owner of a local dance studio inquired about having custom lyrical dance costumes made for a class of 8 girls. The measurements for each girl were given to the designer. The client had shown the designer the exact costume from a website she was looking to have made. She provided the material which was matte jersey as well as 14 sequinned appliqués.
The costume consisted of two pieces; an open back asymmetrical dress featuring a halter bodice silhouette, a mock neck, a dramatic angled hemline skirt as well as wide and ruched straps across the shoulder blades. The two sequinned appliqués were meant to add visual interest at the left shoulder and right hip. The collar would attach with an adjustable snap closure in the back. The second piece of the costume were matching boy shorts. Each pattern was made according to the specific measurements for each girl. After the costumes were constructed before applying the appliqués, they were fitted.
Once making sure the fit was good, the appliqués were then added to finish off each costume. The owner and teacher of the class were very excited and pleased with how they turned out. The designer had also gotten the opportunity to attend the show and watch their performance.
