A male client was looking to have a pair of custom leather pants made to wear when performing with his band. He provided the material and pictures of the details that the pants would require. The seamstress took the client’s measurements and noted the specifics he requested for the pants i.e straight leg, 2 back pockets, belt loops and grommets placed all the way down on both sides of each leg like in the picture provided.
The production began with the designer creating the pattern according to his measurements. Then a sample material was used to create the prototype of the pants before beginning the final project. When the prototype was completed the client was contacted for his first fitting. A few adjustments were to be made for the next pair. The designer made slight changes to the pattern and then proceeded to cut from the leather material provided by the client. After the second fitting of the final pants the fit was perfect. The last steps were to add the client’s band’s logo which would be placed on the left leg at the thigh, and after was to install the grommets and then put the chains through.
The logo was sized on photoshop and then printed onto heat transfer paper. Next it was cut from the paper and then transferred onto a piece of white Lycra material. This step was done so the picture is more visible on a lighter material. Once the logo was made to a patch, it was then zig zag stitched onto the thigh of the leg.
The last step was adding the grommets on both sides of the pants side panels. The seamstress marked with chalk where they would be placed making sure it was evenly spread out. A hammer was used to firmly install each grommet. A total of 40 grommets were added to the pants, 20 on each side. Lastly, the chains were added, they were cut and reconnected where necessary making sure they fit perfectly allowing that criss cross look when being worn.
The client was contacted when the leather pants were completed. He was very pleased with how they turned out as well as the turn around time. He was looking forward to wearing them for his performance that same week he had picked them up.
