A returning client was inquiring to have a pair of her daughter’s straight leg jeans taken in at the waist. She also wanted to make them into bell bottoms by adding an extended flare of material which she would provide.
During the fitting the adjustments were being applied to the waist and the flare had been decided to it’s length and width. The pattern for the extension was in the shape of a triangle with the planned measurements and added seam allowance. Before sewing the material to the pants, the outer side seams were ripped open from the hem to the knee.
The material was then added to create the bell bottom leg. The pants were ready in a small time frame. The client’s daughter was very ecstatic when she tried them on. The fit around her waist was perfect and the flare was very wide like the way she wanted.
