A returning male client was looking to have a second vest made for his menswear line. This vest would be slightly different. A few adjustments were made to the pattern. The shoulders would be a little more narrow and the length would be a bit shorter. The front exterior would still have the ripstop nylon, and the back would have a navy regular nylon. The padding would be 1/4 foam and lining would still be suede. The straps were to be made using the ripstop nylon. There would be velcro sewn on both the front and back of the vest as well as on the straps made to be easier adjustable.
The client also wanted a panel of his logo sewn on the front of the vest, exactly how it was done on the previous project, the crew neck sweater.
The first step was cutting the material from the adjusted pattern. Next was sewing the panel onto the ripstop nylon after the interfacing was ironed on. The foam was sewn at the seams with the exterior and interior pieces, right sides together then turned inside out. The shoulder seams were slip stitched by hand. After the seams were topstitched all around, next was sewing the ripstop straps. The Velcro was sewn on last onto the vest and straps.
The client was very pleased with the vest and it was exactly what he envisioned.
